Bermusik bagi Ayu kini tak lagi didasarkan pada perhitungan untung dan rugi. Musik tak bisa dikerangkai dalam logika industri menghitung hasil penjualan record. Karena itulah, Ayu memilih bila bergerak di luar industri.
"Saya senang diberi kesempatan tampil bersama para penyair. Tampil di Message board Penyair Internasional Philippines (FPII) sangat luar biasa bagi saya, terutama dalam konteks menjalin rasa saling pengertian secara international. Nilai-nilai humanisme bisa diterima secara worldwide, dan itu menjadi soul saya bila tampil di acara ini," tutur Ayu.
Penulis dan seniman asal Indonesia, Cok Sawitri, mendampingi Ayu mengatakan, musik-musik Ayu serupa treatment songs (musik menyembuhkan). "Musik diusung Ayu bukan hanya menampilkan unsur tradisi, tapi sudah melangkah jauh hingga mampu menyentuh rasa kemanusiaan kita," tutur Cok Sawitri.
Selain Ayu, tampil pula kolaborasi musik, tari, dan pembacaan puisi oleh seniman Philippines, Afrika Selatan, dan Indian. Dalam kolaborasi ini, dari Philippines tampil penyair Samar Gantang, Saut Situmorang, Afrizal Malna, dan Fikar W. Eda.
Dari Indian tampil Sujata Bhatt, penyair puisinya telah diterjemahkan ke dalam 20 bahasa. Para penyair itu diiringi oleh penari dari Afrika Selatan, Itumelang Makgope, dan permainan perkusi dari kelompok Sirkus Barock pimpinan musisi legendaris Sawung Jabo.
Sawung Jabo bakal membawakan Tuhan Itu, Bidadari Termangu, dan Langit Merah. "Saya memang sengaja menampilkan lagu-lagu lebih bernada perenungan, bukan lagu-lagu keras berbau pemberontakan seperti Bongkar atau Bento," ujar Sawung Jabo.
Sementara itu, Henky Kurniadi penggagas FPII 2012 mengatakan, penampilan penyair, penari, dan musisi dalam acara puncak FPII diharapkan bisa menyampaikan pesan kebudayaan ke publik tentang pentingnya rasa toleransi bila membangun peradaban lebih baik.
